The Malta Tourism Authority had marked World Tourism Day on September 27, 2013, and as part of a whole series of events that the Malta Tourism Authority had undertaken to mark the day, there was a tree planting ceremony in which all English Language Schools were invited to participate in.
IH Malta was among the schools in attendance at the TREE 4 U planting ceremony which took place last Friday.
IH Malta was contacted in order to contribute to the well-being of the environment by having the director of the school Mr. Costantino Mifsud, along with one of our adult students Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Elraaid, to plant a sapling of a Sandarac gum tree (Maltese: Ghargħar : Lat. Tetraclinis articulata). This is an indigenous tree that grows up to circa 10 metres. There are only four locations in Malta where this tree grows in its natural habitat and up to a few years ago it was on the brink of extinction.
